The Challenge
Saenger Theatre already had a photo booth.
The problem was that hardly anyone was using it.
It was bulky, took up valuable space, and wasn't creating the kind of interactive guest experience the theatre wanted.
Saenger wasn't looking for another piece of equipment sitting in the venue.
They wanted an experiential marketing activation guests would actually engage with before and after performances.
Generating reviews wasn't even the original priority.
That became an added benefit once they saw what BuzzyBooth could do.
The Solution
Saenger Theatre replaced its previous photo booth with the BuzzyBooth Selfie Kiosk.
Guests could interact with BuzzyBooth before and after shows, as well as during special events.
And because the experience could be customized around different productions, Saenger could create show-specific photo experiences, filters, and branded content instead of offering the same generic experience year-round.
Guests could take photos, receive them instantly by text or email, and share the experience with friends and family.
The interaction also created a natural opportunity to request a review after a guest had already had a positive experience.
And for theatre staff, there was very little to manage.
Once BuzzyBooth was on, guests could use the experience on their own with minimal staff involvement.
The Results
Over approximately 2 years, Saenger Theatre generated:
But the biggest difference wasn't simply the numbers.
It was engagement.
Guests were actually using the experience.
“We had a paid photo booth there before, but hardly anyone used it. It was bulky and took up a lot of space. Once we switched to BuzzyBooth, we immediately saw a big difference in usage and guest engagement. Guests actually enjoy using it, and I love that I can go into the dashboard and see exactly how it’s performing.
From Photo Booth to Experiential Marketing
BuzzyBooth gave Saenger a way to make the photo experience part of the entertainment itself.
Before a show, guests could capture the excitement of the night.
Afterward, they could take home another memory from the experience.
For special events, Saenger could customize the content to match the occasion.
And as productions changed, the BuzzyBooth experience could change with them.
Instead of a bulky photo booth guests ignored, Saenger had a flexible experience that could become part of the atmosphere surrounding each show.
Reviews Became an Unexpected Bonus
Saenger originally wanted better guest engagement.
But BuzzyBooth also gave the theatre an opportunity to turn those positive interactions into online reputation growth.
Over the same period, Saenger generated 144 five-star reviews.
That meant one experiential marketing tool could help create both:
A better in-venue guest experience
and
More public proof of that experience online.
